PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP tweeted Monday that he’s “wasting” time “winding down” by using the Washington Post’s poster to bash Hillary Clinton and his White House chief strategist Steve Bannon.
The President tweeted from his personal account, “Trump, it’s a shame you waste time spinning it all away.
I love you!”
The poster for a new book, titled, “What Happened: Inside the Watergate Scandal,” has Trump in the front row, with Bannon, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway.
It was made by former FBI Director James Comey and former White House counsel Alberto Gonzales, and features the words, “Comey’s report on the Trump/Russia collusion.”
The poster is the latest salvo in Trump’s ongoing battle with the FBI over its investigation into his campaign’s possible ties to Russia.
The post features an image of Comey standing next to the FBI badge and the words “I never said that,” and the message, “I don’t care who tells you I said that.”
The President’s tweet comes days after Comey told Congress he would be testifying before Congress, and the President’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski also said Comey should testify before the House Judiciary Committee.
Trump has repeatedly called Comey a liar and a political hack, and has also repeatedly accused Comey of leaking information to the media and leaking damaging information about him to the Democrats in order to derail his investigation.
Trump also repeatedly referred to the Russia probe as a “witch hunt,” saying it was a “political witch hunt.”
But the President has yet to make a statement about the probe itself, which he said in January was “very good” but has yet, in fact, to complete.
