Postal Service asks court to stop employees from selling their postal property

A federal judge has asked the postal service to stop mail delivery employees from reselling their postal properties.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson wrote to postal officials Friday asking for a court order requiring them to stop the practice.

She wrote that while the court has a jurisdiction over mail delivery, the USPS cannot force employees to resell their property.

The Postmaster General’s office said the postal workers were allowed to reselly their property after they were laid off in 2016.

But Jackson said that’s not the same thing.

She also wrote that postal workers have the right to return their property to the post office, but that they have to notify the Postal Service if they plan to do so.

The postal service said it’s not doing anything illegal.
